Description

This week in Asian American politics:

  • Biden announced he is running for re-election despite an NBCNews study that says 7 in 10 Americans don’t want him to do that. Biden cites the Big Bad Orange as good enough reason to run again as the oldest president America has ever had, begging the question, when will the evil be defeated?

  • We discuss an article from a conservative publication about Asian American landlords and how weirdly a bunch of people our age want to be landlords? The article cries rivers about who will stick up for the little guy small business landlords, as if we all don’t know that it’s giant corporation landlords that these regulations are about

  • Asia is hit with a “monster” heatwave—we’re talking about climate impacts across India, Pakistan, China, and the Philippines. While the US is running in circles about debating whether climate change is real, the climate catastrophe is already impacting parts of Asia that don’t have the infrastructure to protect the people.

    • And lastly, we cover a report that points out streaming has better AAPI representation than traditional broadcast cable television. Gerrie has to use their college degree for once and explain to Aaron what broadcast television is. Netflix pumps $2.5billion into South Korea content, and more.

    WHAT'S POLITICALLY ASIAN PODCAST?

Two Asians talking about politics and the Asian American community to get more Asians talking about politics! Join comedians Aaron Yin (he/him) and Gerrie Lim (they/them) for 45 minutes-ish each week as they discuss current topics and events related to Asian Americans through the lenses of history, class, and advocacy. Think John Oliver's show, but there's two of us, and we're Asian.
