A Sincere IF
Description
I remember my own moment of surrender in 1978, when I pulled over on the side of the road on my way to work. Another police officer named Erved had shared Christ with me, and all I could say was, “Lord, if what this man said is true, then I open my heart to You. I receive You as my Lord and Savior.”
That wasn’t a bold declaration; it wasn’t eloquent but God took it. That’s why I understand the thief on the cross. His prayer wasn’t polished either. It was desperate. It was honest. And that’s all God needed.
If it’s true, why would we ever turn away from such an offer? Life eternal. Life abundant. I know both because of Jesus Christ.
Even if all you have today is an if, give it to God now. Just say as I once did, “Lord, if it’s true, remember me.”
It’s time to pray.
