A conversation with David Brown: What does it REALLY take to become a thriving coach?
Description
When we met David, he was looking for a system. A system that would enable a steady stream of committed, passionate and focused clients. A system that felt relaxed, authentic and loving. A system that had him excited, joyful and enthusiastic. A system that had him be in action.
David came to us a powerful and loving coach, with multiple programmes and certification under his belt. But what was missing was the “how to” create clients in a way that felt loving, aligned and fun.
We asked him why he thought he hadn’t created what he wanted yet and here is what he shared: “I have not found a system that means I take consistent action that really creates clients. And that feels right. I feel shoe-horned into anything that I have tried before. And anything that feels right doesn’t seem to create clients like blogs, videos etc”.
After a couple of conversations with David he was already seeing transformation and possibility…”I can see how in the past I have rushed to the fees part of the enrolment conversation. As you say, they may only be “interested”, not “committed”. It’s possible that they are not even “interested”.
Also, this thing about “slowing down”. I have been rushing for all long about too much. I have heard the expression a lot over the years, but somehow, I have seen a glimpse of what is possible by slowing down that I did not see before. Slowing down allows me to be me. To be fully myself in my coaching practice. Slowing down allows for presence. Slowing down allows for depth and connection. Slowing down allows me to take time and really know this client and whether I can truly serve them, not just maybe or assume that I can. Slowing down allows for knowing whether the client is ready for coaching. I didn’t get that before, and I think that alone has had a huge impact. Knowing that in my bones will make a massive positive difference”.
To hear David’s story and what is different for him now, 7 months into the school, tune in here. We explore:
- Coming out from behind the wall - moving from fear to a totally different relationship with fear.
- Making your first proposals in your own business (away from any associate coaching)
- How you now see the value of YOU in your loving, and what occurred that allowed that to happen.
- The service game - how your contribution serves your peers and how the community and game serves you.
