Description

Do you know that military aircraft undergo rigorous testing to determine stress points in their structure? Or that a device is used to literally push down the wings of an aircraft to see when and how they break?

This week on The Aeronut Podcast, I'm joined by former McDonnell Douglas aeronautical engineer Bob Morford. Bob worked with McDonnell testing the F-15 Eagle, he developed several ways of testing aircraft for stress, so he's just the guy to talk about this subject. We discuss how he got interested in designing aircraft, what methods were used to determine an aircraft's weak points, as well as just describing some of the weird and wacky aircraft that he witnessed during his time with McDonnell Douglas. All that and much much more, all right here on The Aeronut Podcast.
