Description
Amtraks East River Tunnel Repair: A Major Project for Long Island CommutersAmtrak is currently reconstructing two of the four East River tunnels connecting Penn Station to Long Island, damaged during Superstorm Sandy. A dedicated team is working around the clock to demolish, repair, and rebuild these tunnels, with the first phase expected to finish by July next year. New signal and electrical systems will be installed after testing, but the project will continue for another thirteen months for the second tunnel.
