The meeting of the Outgoing Board was held Wednesday, followed by the Organizational Board Meeting. She talked about the service from retiring Board Members Jeremy Pritchard and Dr. Ryan Huffman and about the new Board Members sworn in on Wednesday, Neil Nerem and Dr. Nancy Woods. Ryan Palmer and Officer Kaden Sherrard, Boone Police Department talks about the Shop With A Cop program, receiving donations and volunteering to help with the annual event coming up on December 11th. Diane Hinderaker, Executive Director, Boone Greene County Probation talks about challenges the agency faces with a change in direction for probation. The service has been available in Boone County for 40-years, as a way to allow those placed on probation as a way to meet obligations. Those are cases that aren’t handled at the state level. There are fee’s associated with the service and for a variety of reasons those fee’s are declining which means the non-profit service faces funding issues. Hinderaker talks about that and more. She also notes there’s updated data and gambling addiction, yet many don’t feel they have a problem. Park also talks about efforts to bring back an interest in Red Ribbon week. Boone Mayor Elijah Stines talks about the Boone City Council meeting held Monday. Stines reported a fairly quick meeting. A Public Hearing was held on a project to rehabilitate the Ground Storage Reservoir at the Water Treatment Plant. Bidding will be the next step. Stines noted that several engineering contracts were awarded to SEH for development of plans for projects at Boone Water Works, including a new transmission main to run on the northside of the city to the Boone Industrial Park.
