Approach 3: Value in Nature: An Ecological Ethic / Garrett J DeWeese
Update: 2011-04-22
Description
In this seminar Dr. DeWeese presents the third approach to Environmental Ethics: an ecological ethic. He defines this ethic as one that sees a value in nature. Dr. DeWeese explains that this ethic is theologically flawed as it only sees nature as instrumentally valuable and what it provides for humans. Dr. DeWeese references Holmes Rolston, father of Environmental Ethics. This weekend seminar on Environmental Ethics is given by Dr. Garry DeWeese, professor of Philosophy in Religion and Ethics at Talbot School of Theology.
