BUNKER BUDDIES & BROKEN DRIVERS - October 5th, 2025
Description
On October 5th, 2025, Garrick Higgo took the 54-hole lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship amidst a bizarre bunker ruling, while Doc Redman and Max Homa made massive charges up the leaderboard.
Sanderson Farms Championship
Garrick Higgo shot a 67 to take the lead at -18, but his round was defined by a one-in-a-million moment when Cole Hammer's approach shot landed directly on top of his ball in a greenside bunker.
"Now Cole and Higgo are recognizing that their golf balls are literally touching in the bunker."
Despite the plugged lie from Hammer's ball, Higgo managed to get up-and-down for a crucial par, maintaining his momentum on moving day.
The Comeback Kid
Monday qualifier Doc Redman authored an incredible comeback, firing his second straight 65 to go from +3 to -11. This follows a devastating collapse at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship just weeks ago.
On his new mindset: a bad result is a "consequence of a bad attitude, not a bad score."
Redman heads into Sunday saying, "if I can just play really hard and confidently, then I'll be happy with whatever happens."
Homa's Charge
Max Homa fired the round of the day, an eight-under 64, to surge into contention. However, his day ended bizarrely when he suspected his driver cracked mid-swing on the 18th tee.
After his second tee shot went "weirder to the right," Homa called it a "lame way to end a good day."
Homa will now have to scramble to find a replacement driver head before his final round tee time on Sunday.
