Becoming A Household Manager: Levelling Up Your Skill Set
Description
This week, Charlotte, Charlie, and Millie chat with the wonderful Maria, whose journey from nanny to House Manager is nothing short of inspiring.
Arriving in England with zero English, Maria worked her way up with resilience, confidence, and an unshakeable belief in her worth. From au pairing in Italy at 17, to a life-changing move from North London to Kensington, Maria has never shied away from fighting for what she deserves — from contracts and holiday pay to proper payslips.
Her career story is full of bold decisions and brilliant twists, including applying for a role that required Hindi (a language she didn’t speak!) — and proving that her passion for India and her exceptional skill set were more than enough to land the job. Her position began as a temp role. She showed the family her loyalty, commitment and expert childcare skills; ultimately leading to her becoming their household manager.
Maria’s journey shows what’s possible when determination meets self-respect.
