This is the first episode in a series of episodes for beginning ultra runners. The aim of this mini series is to keep beginning ultra runners safe and enjoy their experience. This episode is about key medical conditions that can arise through ultra running. What are the signs and symptoms? How can they be prevented? How can they be managed? When is it time for medical intervention? Come and join Alysha Lynch (experienced in ICU Trauma and Nurse Management) and Lizzie Sharrad (GP and experience in emergency with the Royal Flying Doctors) for a chat about:

  • rhabdomyolisis
  • NSAIDs
  • hypothermia
  • hyperthermia
  • snake bite
  • hypernatremia
  • hyponatremia
  • returning post partum
  • medications that don’t mix
