Data management for electric utilities is becoming increasingly complex, in the United States systems of smart grid technologies and other connected devices are installed in an aging system of infrastructure. More and more, everyday objects are becoming interconnected such as household appliances and other consumer electronics enabled with sensors and exchanging data with other devices and systems (IoT).

For utilities, monitoring and operating the grid will become increasingly difficult as these interconnected devices generate an increasing amount of data for utilities to collect, share and manage. The management and utilization of the data generated from these different components of the electrical system will be crucial for continued and improved operations.

This podcast will explore the concept of “Big Data” management and integration – or management and integration of data so large and complex that it is not feasible to do so using traditional data processing applications.
