After Don Quixote's first misadventures, his family attempts to cure his madness by removing his precious books of chivalry—blaming their disappearance on an evil magician. 
Yet our determined knight remains undeterred and soon sets his sights on recruiting a companion for his next journey. 
Enter Sancho Panza, a simple farmer with little wit but much practicality, who becomes enticed by Don Quixote's grandiose promises of governorship over islands and kingdoms.

Their early conversations reveal the delightful contrast between Don Quixote's idealistic worldview and Sancho's grounded perspective—particularly when discussing whether Sancho's wife might become queen. 
"She is not worth two maravedis for a queen," Sancho pragmatically observes, "Countess will fit her better, and that only with God's help."
