Today the story comes from a country called Ukraine. 今天的新聞來自一個叫做烏克蘭的國家。



In the big city of Kyiv, people were sleeping in their homes. At night, a loud sound woke everyone up. A flying machine, called a drone, hit a tall apartment building. The building was damaged, and some parts were broken. But soon, brave rescue workers came to help. They worked all through the night to make sure everyone was safe. It was a scary night, but it showed how people help each other in times of trouble.



Now, let's listen to the story again, sentence by sentence. 現在，讓我們一句一句來聽這個故事。

Our first word is 'drone'. D-R-O-N-E. A drone is a small flying machine that doesn't have a person inside to fly it. It's controlled from the ground. 中文就是「無人機」。 Let's say it together, drone. Very good!



Our second word is 'damaged'. D-A-M-A-G-E-D. When something is damaged, it means it is hurt or broken. 中文就是「受損的」。 For example, 'The toy car was damaged after it fell.' 意思是「玩具車掉下去之後壞掉了」。 A word that means the same is 'broken', and the opposite is 'intact' or 'unharmed'.



Our third word is 'rescue'. R-E-S-C-U-E. To rescue someone means to save them from a dangerous situation. 中文就是「救援」。Let's make a sentence: 'The firefighter will rescue the cat from the tree.' 意思是「消防員會把貓咪從樹上救下來」。 A similar word is 'save', and the opposite is 'endanger'.



And our last word for today is 'brave'. B-R-A-V-E. Brave means you are ready to face danger or pain, and you are not scared. 中文就是「勇敢的」。The rescue workers were very brave. 救援人員都非常勇敢。 A synonym for brave is 'courageous', and the opposite is 'afraid'.



It's important to always help others when they are in trouble. 當別人有困難時，幫助他們是很重要的。
