Can Addiction be cured?
Description
Can Addiction be cured?
In this podcast I'll explore where our addictions come from and how they are linked to our value system.
I can remember growing up in the 80s, in a drinking environment and I can tell you it wasn’t boring! It was like watching one big movie.
Now we were lucky enough not to have been involved in any serious car accident. Though the accident we were involved in, was accidental learning of a negative behaviour! We were being programmed by our environment. Now I have no ill will towards my parents, because they were also unwitting victims of this cultural programming that their parents had also been part of.
Like Gabor Mate said so justly, addiction is any behaviour that gives you temporary relief, or temporary pleasure, but in the long term causes you harm and has negative consequences that you cannot give up, despite those negative consequences.
Addiction has many faces: it can be alcohol, drugs, sex, consumerism, shopping, gambling, gaming, the internet… it goes on forever.
Listen up and you will learn about Massey’s 3 distinct development stages of our childhood. Discover how our values formed in our childhood, together with our programming can influence the way we live our lives right now.
