Red Sun of Danger (reprinted as in the 1960's as "Danger Planet"), written by Edmond Hamilton using the pseudonym of Brett Sterling, takes place ten years after Captain Future (Curt Newton) has invented the vibra-ray, which allows interstellar travel. Captain Future discovered a planet which grows a certain kind of plant which keeps human beings young, called Vitron. That planet is Roo, and the natives on that planet have been stirred up, and are starting to demand that the human colonists be evicted, which in turn would mean that Vitron would become either very expensive or unavailable.
The Futuremen, the side-kicks of Captain Future, are recruited by Earth's president to infiltrate the underground resistance on Roo, and learn who is involved, and why they want to evict the colonists.
The Futuremen include Dr. Simon Wright, who is now only a brain, living in a medical box which keeps the brain alive; Grag, a giant robot who likes to argue; and Otho, an android/synthetic man.
