Newman serves as the Chief of School Security and Emergency Management for Hillsborough County Public Schools--the 3rd largest school district in the state; 8th in the nation.
Chiefs Dugan and Newman discuss the importance of active shooter training and how the school district prepares its faculty and staff to respond to emergency situations.
Prior to taking on his role with Hillsborough County Schools, Newman served the community as a police officer with the Tampa Police Department. He worked his way up the ranks to Assistant Chief of Investigations and Support before retiring after 29 years of service.
