Description

The four short-listed candidates for the position of our next Chief Justice of the Constitional Court will be interviewed at the start of February. They are; Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, Judge President Mandisa Maya, and Judge President Dustan Mlambo

This is clearly a very important position to hold in the State, but what powers, exactly, does a Chief Justice have? How are they appointed? Should we, as ordinary citizens, get to vote for the Chief Justice?

I explore these questions on this episode with my guest Dan Mafora of CASAC. Dan is also a teaching assistant at the University of Cape Town and a former clerk of the Constitutional Court.
