Description

Above normal temperatures this week will give way to thunderstorm chances this weekend, with a 15 to 30% chance of severe weather possible.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Rachel Trevino says a cold front will cause an abrupt weather change by Friday night.

Trevino says the timing of Saturday’s storms will be known more in the coming days.

Estimated rainfall for Saturday is around an inch to an inch and a half for the southern Pennyrile and up to two inches near Madisonville.

Trevino added that his weekend’s rain isn’t the last chance for the next 10 days.

Coming into the weekend, rain totals are about normal for October while still tracking about nine inches above normal for the year, thanks to an abundance of rain in the first few months and again in May.
