Covid 19: Changes in Behavioral Health Part Four with Stephanie Johnson, PsyD & Amanda Kapadia, LCSW
Update: 2020-06-29
Description
Since the advent of the COVID 19 virus, the landscape of behavioral health has changed significantly. For consumers, this includes:
- An increase in mental health issues such as anxiety and depression,
- Relational strain
- Higher incidences of drug and alcohol use
For behavioral health specialist this includes:
- Increased use, or sole use of remote or teletherapy
- Which increases isolation for the therapist and lack of connection with colleagues and mentors.
- And an increase in advocacy for greater mental health access and coverage for all.
With these changes in mind, we decided to reach out to Chicago area clinicians to get their take on the current events, and how they see the landscape of mental health and psychotherapy developing. We set up interviews with two clinicians at a time, in order to create more of a dialog among peers. There are four interviews total.
