1.) Jesus came to make peace between us and God. But pursuing real peace with God requires honesty. In Psalm 51:6 David wrote, “Surely you desire integrity in the inner self.” David was admitting to God what he always knew to be true, but often ignored – that God sees the deepest parts of our heart and desires inner integrity, not just external actions. Do you make a practice of being honest about the condition of your inner self?

2.) Real peace with God changes us because we see the enormous cost of that peace. It cost Jesus His life. He makes peace between us and God by bearing “our sins in His body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24 ). Spend a little time thanking God in prayer for the peace that can only come through the Person and work of Jesus on our behalf.
