Editor: Yesterday I was watching the June 6 celebrations in France and Great Britain. I was crying when the 99-year-old was singing the American anthem. He was 19 on June 6, 1944, and survived D-Day — but many did not. I was 5 years old in Poland when D-Day happened, and I remember — ruins and bombs and I specifically remember the time when United Nations Relief packages were coming with Oreo cookies.
