This episode reviews a recent article by Nigerian technical writer Damilola Oladele entitled "Why Editing Matters More Than Ever With AI-assisted Writing."

This insightful article argues that editing is the crucial difference between average and highly productive writers in the age of artificial intelligence.

Oladele distinguishes between "AI writing," where the tool handles the entire process—which leads to a lack of originality and factual errors—and "AI-assisted writing"—where the writer maintains control over ideas and structure while using AI for mechanical tasks.

Although AI assistance improves productivity, it introduces limitations. These include a tendency toward copywriting style and structural inconsistencies, especially problematic for technical writing.

Oladele emphasizes that mastering four types of editing (structural, stylistic, copy, and proofreading) is essential to address AI's shortcomings and ensuring that content remains clear, accurate, and organized.
