Description

Here’s Down to Ten: Estimating the Effect of a Red Card in Soccer by Geert Ridder, Jan Salomon Cramer and Peter Hopstaken

Welcome to this third episode of The Last Man Podcast. As usual I’m Ciaran and I’m pretty interested in all things football or soccer analytics.

I’m always amazed at the work and research that’s being done out there. There are loads of analytical conferences now, some even specifically for football analytics, which is amazing.

And as I’ve just explained with a single conference, it can be hard to keep up, I always want to watch every talk, read every research paper, ask all the questions. It’s just not possible to consume it all, so we have to pick and choose.

That’s where this podcast comes in.

It’s an attempt to widen my own knowledge and perspective of where the football analytics world has come from, where I’m going to take a look through some research papers and try my best to summarise them here.

Hopefully it’ll be fun and we’ll all learn lots, so without further ado..
