Description

We're starting off with one of the first records of any statistical analysis in football history: Charles Reep and Bernard Benjamin’s Skill and Chance in Association Football.

Welcome to this first episode of The Last Man's Summary.

As part of a general interest in sports and specifically football analytics, I’m always amazed at the work and research that’s being done out there. There are loads of analytical conferences now, some even specifically for football analytics. Which is amazing,

But it can be hard to keep up, I always want to watch every talk, read every research paper, ask all the questions. It’s just not possible to consume it all, so we have to pick and choose.

That’s where this podcast comes in.

In an attempt to widen my own knowledge and perspective of where the football analytics world has come from, I’m going to take a look through some research papers and try my best to summarise them here.

Hopefully it’ll be fun and we’ll all learn lots, without further ado.
