The dynamic running duo Alexi Pappas and Lisa Thompson joined me in studio during Boston Marathon weekend as they prepared to race their fourth Boston together. Alexi, a former Olympian representing Greece, and Lisa Thompson, a competitive visually impaired runner, met years ago through 'Team With a Vision' and have been racing around the world since. Today we dive in to:
- How the two first met & how they knew that they would be unstoppable teaming up together
- Their tether and communication system that helps them navigate crowds and streets
- The ways each runner supports the other throughout the 26.2 miles
- How Alexi decides what to illustrate for Lisa
- Race day brain games -- positivity alphabet, "bird", etc
- How they both started in the sport of running & how they ultimately got hooked on the marathon distance
