ENGLISH WEEK : EPISOD 9
Description
Sandra, 50 years old, comes every 6 months for her treatment renewal for hypertension. She jokes about her "welcome pack" of turning fifty sent by Social Security, which includes letters for colon cancer screening and mammography. We discuss her increasingly irregular periods, a sign of pre-menopause. Then, not really knowing why, I ask her if she experiences urinary incontinence. She turns red and eventually admits that it's been a nightmare for the past 3 years, that she wears pads every day and avoids certain activities. But for her, only surgery could help. I mention pelvic floor rehabilitation with a physiotherapist. Doubtful, she leaves with a prescription.Six months later, she returns and tells me that she has attended the sessions. Result: significant improvement! She has even started Pilates. She feels better, wears clothes she no longer dared to put on, and realizes that she wasn't the only one going through this. It made me happy to see her.
