EP - 17 Conversation with Toastmasters International 2021 World Championship of Public Speaking® second place winner Nitay-Yair Levi
Description
I first interviewed Nitay Yair Levi in March 2022. , Nitay is the second-place winner in the 2021 World Championship of Public Speaking.
He recounted his journey, which began when his wedding speech performance fell flat, prompting him to seek improvement. Initially hesitant and introverted, Nitay joined City Tattersall's Club in 2019 and took six months to give his first "icebreaker" speech. Encouraged by evaluations and mentorship, he competed, placing second in his first contest.
His 2020 contest experience emphasized technique over content, leading to limited success. In 2021, shifting his focus to message over winning, he employed immersive speaking strategies, drawing on diverse art forms like singing, theater, and movies. His use of "foundational sounds" and innovative methods immersed audiences, making them feel part of the experience.
Nitay highlighted the importance of growth through evaluations and seeking mentorship, stressing that ego should not hinder progress. He credited his success to dedication, openness to feedback, and focusing on the essence of the message.
