EP - 18 - The Kory May Way: 2000 Days of Relentless Persistence, Storytelling, and Speaking Excellence
Description
Listen in on this delightful conversation with Kory.
Kory joined Toastmasters in 2006 to find purpose after a personal life change, attracted by the focus on communication and community. With over 18 years of experience, he currently belongs to four hybrid clubs across different U.S. states.
He values hybrid meetings for the chance to connect globally and experience varied customs and meeting styles. His commitment to Toastmasters extends to leadership, having served in multiple club roles and as an area governor, which helped him earn his Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) title.
A seasoned competitor, Kory has won multiple District championships in Humourous, Table Topics and Evalutaion. He has has also been on the Semi Final Stage.
He attributes his success to meaningful speech topics, culturally relevant coaching, and continual improvement. Additionally, he has been a part of The Moth storytelling platform, using it to refine his narrative skills.
Kory is also committed to a 2000+ day streak of Facebook Live videos, which started as a 90 day live video challenge through Stagetime University in 2019.
This ongoing project serves as both a legacy and an evolving exercise in public speaking. His advice to prospective Toastmasters: choose the right club, practice patience, focus on personal progress, and eventually mentor others.
