Who actually knows who they are in high school? Short answer, no one... But imagine being a WOC as well! It's hard enough being a teenager, but having to grow up with added racial and gender stereotypes on what you can or can't do as a WOC isn't any easier. In today's episode, Kelsey and Alina talk about just that, how to deal with stereotypes as WOC and how to navigate them. Alina opens up about a racial microaggression she dealt with earlier at her internship program and how she plans to respond. She explains how the model minority myth intended microaggression caused her to feel as if her passion for STEM was minimized and overlooked because "all "indians" go into medicine". Kelsey discusses her experience in high school and being degraded by her own teachers.
