It's a bummer that you didn't play the game so we could hear your thoughts.. From what I see on youtube, (which might not be fair / generally representative ) is a lot of solo camping and pinpoint shooting that to me reflects typical video game tactics, and not the overlapping infantry move-and-support dynamicthat kept soldiers alive. Shifting into VR, where aiming along iron sights is much more realistic rather than laser aiming a mouse a few pixels over, would also elevate the experience, as anyone who's played Onward (and it's ilk) knows.

Ian over at Forgotten Weapons has a video where he shows a terrain model in a museum that was used in war gaming to plan attack and defense strategies. Some of the terrain models used in the late 1800s are huge and excruciatingly detailed.
I love hearing some Dan Carlin lore, I have absolutely no idea why he thinks he isn't interesting. I think it is fascinating...
