Description

This episode is an excerpt from the recording session for the audio book version of "The Man, He's Stupid, And The Girl, She's So Bitch: Relationship Wisdom From My Chaldean Mother." Frankie, Cheri and Rachel were reading this excerpt of the book:
Frankie: So there are questions I would ask myself in learning to treat myself well. The first question I would ask myself is, “How do I feel when I do this? When I'm being so sweet and nice and smiling at people, because I don't want to hurt their feelings, but I really want to say ‘no’ to something, how does that make me feel?” Maybe in the moment I'm proud of myself, because I’m doing what my mom told me to do, but afterwards, how do I feel? Do I want to go run and put my head in the sand?
Rachel interrupts and asks Frankie "What would your mom tell you to do?" Frankie responds "To put my head in the sand." Then they started to talk about treating yourself well by saying "no" when someone asks you to do something you don't want to do but Frankie's mother always said you have to help others like God said so therein lies the conundrum. Rachel asked Frankie what she does when she has her mom's voice inside when she doesn't want to do something. Frankie said "I know God lives inside of me, God is light and love. Light as a feather and a shining light." Rachel asks how do you get out of that guilty God space, like her mom would say "God said..." Frankie explains after her brother died she started to connect to Source energy and would simply ask "show me." She realized in that space there is no fear, fear is a control mechanism and not God. Rachel asks Frankie how has her relationship with her mother changed now that she passed on. She mentions the book as a way her mother has communicated with her. "My mother taught me that love prevails - she taught me about God and Jesus's love" Frankie explains. When she was younger there was so much emphasis on right and wrong but her mother would explain "We don't know but the love is everything...Don't forget God is the love." Frankie asks "What if we are in fact the creators of our lives?" They end talking about the fears surrounding Covid. Frankie says not to let fear be our control mechanism.
