Tai-Ex opening
The Tai-Ex opened up 107-points this morning from Friday's close, at 23,455
on turnover of 5.5-billion N-T.
The market staged a technical rebound on Friday, rising more than 150 points
after a slump a session earlier.
The bellwether electronics sector led the gains in the wake of gains posted
by the tech heavy Nasdaq on Wall Street overnight.
However, turnover was reduced as many investors stayed on the sidelines as
they were reluctant (不願意,不情願的) to chase prices.
Foreign Minister Invites Guatemalan President to Visit Taiwan
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung has invited Guatemalan President Bernardo
Arevalo to visit Taiwan.
Lin made the offer at the end of his trip to the country this past weekend.
Guatemala was the first stop on Lin's trip to five of Taiwan's Caribbean and
Latin American diplomatic allies.
He is now in St. Vincent and the Grenadines where he attend the country's
45th Independence Day celebrations (慶祝活動) on Sunday.
Lin is also scheduled to visit St. Lucia, Belize and St. Kitts and Nevis.
Golfer Pan finishes 6th at Zozo Championship in Japan
And,
Taiwanese golfer Pan Cheng-tsung has finished sixth at the 2024 Zozo
Championship in Japan after finishing on a 13-under par 267 over four days.
Pan put in his best performance on the last round on Sunday to end on a
4-under par 66 that was paced by six birdies at the Narashino Country Club in
Chiba Prefecture's Inzai City.
Pan took only two bogies on the front nine to finish the tourney in a tie for
sixth with four other players.
Aside from the three birdies and no bogey performance on the back nine, Pan
also took only two strokes off the tee to the green on the 18th hole.
The four-day event was co-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour and the P-G-A
Tour.
Report: Chinese Hackers Intercept US Political Figures Calls
Chinese state-affiliated hackers intercepted (截取) audio from the phone
calls of US political figures, including an unnamed campaign adviser of
Donald Trump, according to the Washington Post.
The FBI and the US cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency are
investigating, as Laura Westbrook reports.

UK Jamie Oliver on Stolen Cheddar
British chef Jamie Oliver has issued a plea to his social media followers to
help solve the mystery of nearly 22 metric ton of award-winning cheddar that
was stolen in a scam.
Oliver told his 10.5 million Instagram fans to be on the lookout for “lorry
loads of very posh cheese."
Nearly 1,000 wheels artisanal cheddar worth $390-thousand US dollars were
swiped from Neal’s Yard Dairy in London by a con artist posing as a (假扮)
wholesale distributor for a major French retailer.
London police and international authorities are investigating.
