Description

Humans as a species have always had a strong relationship with food. It’s what fuels us and nourishes our bodies to keep our remarkable biological ecosystem running.  When our eating habits become disconnected from the nutrition our bodies genuinely needs and our scales start to tip towards destructive eating patterns, maybe we should start looking towards our emotional attachment to the foods we decide to put on our plate?

Welcome to The Shift, an investigative series that follows naturopath, nutritionist and author Katherine Maslen as she explores the dysfunctional nature of the health industry and provides people with the tools, knowledge and understanding to make the shift in their lives. Each episode of The Shift features interviews with industry experts in gut and general health from across the globe. They accompany Katherine in tackling the difficult questions surrounding global health. If you want to make the shift towards more informed decisions regarding better health, then this podcast is for you.

On episode #10 of the Shift, emotions, beliefs and the psychology of food, Katherine gets to the emotional root of our relationship with food. Whether it’s the unquenchable desire to imitate our Instagram wellness heroes or turning to sugar or alcohol in a moment of turmoil, she explores the possible links to the emotional triggers that can alter the way we see and consume foods. On this episode Kathrine is joined by Angela Pifer, Dr Tom O'Bryan, Christine Hassler, Kate Reardon, Diane Ryan, Rebecca Coomes, Jenny Tschiesche and Charlotte Watts.
