Ep 037 The Wizard of Oz and Business with ME
Update: 2018-12-21
Description
"You have plenty of courage, I am sure," answered Oz. "All you need is confidence in yourself."
I have grown up with the Wizard of Oz. I can recite most of the words verbatim. Each one of the characters resonates with me – maybe perhaps the most is the Wizard himself. As a business strategist I am supposed to have the answers to all the questions. Yet, I’m not sure how to get myself where I want to go. I question my choices (at times) and wonder where’s “MY” wizard?
Like Dorothy, I know there’s no place like home, but I still want to see what’s over the rainbow. How can I make my business and my life better? Where do I go where there’s no darkness and I can be part of a life where there are horses of a different color?
While the Wizard of Oz is renowned as a child’s story of the ages, it also has a lot of underlying meanings, often discussed and argued over by economists, historians and just plain readers. For me, I think there are definitely a lot of parallels between the movie and running a business – even down to the actual making of the movie itself.
In today’s conversation we talk about:
1.What are some of the things you need to think about when running a business?
2.Each of the characters needs (or thinks they need) something that they don’t have to make their life better. How does that pertain to running a business?
3.There’s no place like home. When we are working ON our businesses do we always look for the shiny object or do we continue to maintain our “home life?”
