Description

Today's guest is Dr. Matt Rieder, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and owner of Renew Strength and Wellness.

Matt jokes that he "gets hurt a lot", on the amateur level, but turned that experience into a career helping others put themselves back together. A lifelong athlete and exercise enthusiast, he believes the human body can stay strong, flexible, pain-free, and ready for anything, no matter your age.

When he's not working with clients, you'll find him climbing, running, weightlifting, scuba diving for giant fossilized shark teeth, hiking, camping, or writing. During his Army days, he was stationed on Oahu, Hawaii, where he loved surfing the North Shore.

Matt's passion is teaching people to heal themselves through movement and helping them rediscover confidence in what their bodies can do.

Topics We Cover

  • What "frozen shoulder" really means (and what's actually happening inside your shoulder)
  • Why middle-aged women—especially those with Type 1 diabetes—are more susceptible

  • How to advocate for yourself in the healthcare system (and what good physical therapy should look like)
  • The three phases of frozen shoulder: inflammatory, frozen, and thawing
  • Why "resting" doesn't equal recovery
  • The mindset needed to heal and stay strong

Frozen shoulder is not a life sentence, it's a signal.
With the right help, movement, and mindset, you can recover fully and return to doing what you love.
