Episode 22: Who is...Hari Mix (Albemarle Distance GOAT)?
Description
This is a MUST listen! Hari Mix is maybe Albemarle's most accomplished distance runner of all time. He graduated from Albemarle in 2004 as a state champion and school record holder in the 3200m (8:56 ) and 5000m (15:03 ). He went on to Stanford where he became one of the of their best runners and was an All-American in the 5000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships!
In this interview, Hari discusses how he was introduced to the sport in elementary school and how he fell in love with it as a freshman at Albemarle. We get to hear about the early days of Panorama Farms and get an honest look at the ups and downs of Hari's high school career. We learn about how a random Jerry Senifield documentary changed Hari's mental approach to the sport as a sophomore at Stanford. Hari talks about how injuries led to ups and downs in the latter years of his college career and ultimately cut his career short. We get to hear many fun stories of Hari racing against or practicing with some of American's all time best distance runners.
But more than anything, this is an inspiring interview that shows you what hard work and a great attitude can lead to big things!
