Anna Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, gained notoriety for posing as a wealthy German heiress to infiltrate herself in New York’s social elite. For years, she used her self-proclaimed wealth to scam and defraud some of the city’s biggest socialites, prominent banks and high-end hotels in New York City. She was arrested in 2017 and convicted of grand larceny in the first, second third degree as well as theft of services. After serving her time and being released from prison, she was detained by ICE for violating the terms of her VISA. She remains on house arrest today while she fights her deportation, but you would never know - she has a large social media following, a podcast, is filming a reality show, and recently appeared on Dancing with the Stars (wearing her ankle monitor).
