Playing Favorites is a podcast about making your friends finally play your favorite games. Each month, we will discuss one of the panelist's—or a listener's—favorite games with a focus on thoughtful and insightful criticism. 

In this episode, we play the 2023 game that we just had to cover--The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. An early contender for game of the year in a year that's stacked the brim with hits, TOTK surprised everyone when it launched this May and answered the question we were all asking: how does Nintendo possibly follow up from Breath of the Wild.

We discuss the merits of GOTY conversations as well as the narrative and world building elements of the game with our deep dive into gameplay mechanics coming in Part 2 of this special Zelda series.
