I question the authenticity of the story it does not make sense to me .
The second story, I find rather annoying. It doesn’t make sense that the Dad would leave the whole family with a potential lunatic nearby. The whole family should’ve gone to get help together! The father, being as protective and on edge as she describes him to be, then ends up leaving the most vulnerable members behind, does not make any sense. If this indeed happened, The father is an idiot; a very poor decision maker  in my opinion 
I've heard this story before and I just don't get it. There is obvious danger and you just leave your wife and 2 kids alone in the middle of it?
This story, as Jim Cornette says, is a phony as a football bat.
