Episode #8 - Our First Parents
Update: 2019-07-18
Description
From the Book of Mormon we learn the purpose of the Creation of the earth:
Behold, the Lord hath created the earth that it should be inhabited; and he hath created his children that they should possess it.
Mankind is God’s crowning creation. God created a human couple and placed them on earth: Adam and Eve.
Because we believe in other modern-day scripture that supports and clarifies the Bible, we have some more details that give us a more nuanced view of Adam and Eve than you’ll generally find from a quick read of Genesis. Here are some unique Latter-day Saint teachings about Adam and Eve
- Adam was Michael the archangel mentioned in Revelation 12 who fought against Satan during the war in heaven.
- He was chosen to be the first man long before the Creation.
- Eve was equally noble, selfless, and wise– not the vile temptress as she is so often portrayed.
- After Adam’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden, God spoke to him and relayed messages to his posterity through him; he was a prophet.
- God revealed the Plan of Salvation to Adam and his posterity.
- Adam learned from God that Jesus Christ would one day be born and save all mankind.
