Episode 85: Up To Doylestown
Description
The Love Sweetie Podcast is a unique historical project that features real letters from Kathryn Frances Demaree Graham a.k.a. "Sweetie" that were written during her lifetime. These authentic letters are narrated and commented on by the hosts of the show (who give context on what is being discussed).
It should also be noted that the vernacular in the letters, as disclaimed at the beginning of every episode, are part of the real historic text from 1950, and do not reflect the views of anyone associated with the Podcast, including the creator and the hosts.
This episode features two letters written by Sweetie in October 1950. In these, we learn more about Sweetie and Lew getting into the antique business, and in particular, some of the acquaintances they are making while seeking out antiques, especially in Doylestown and in Philadelphia. We also get updates about both the Demaree and Graham families in these letters, and how Sweetie helped her neighbors, the Riesselmanns, with their floral business that fall in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
An update is also provided on what was occurring in the Korean War in October 1950.
