Finding My Path: Navigating Social Media Dependency and Self-Employment
Description
Send Lita Goddess of Growth encouragement
Have you ever felt that the very tools promising to help you grow are actually holding you back? That is the journey I found myself on recently, prompting a season of intentional disconnection from the digital dependencies I had cultivated.
After years of pouring hours into social media platforms—going live for three to four hours at a time on TikTok without seeing the progress I had hoped for—I reached a turning point. When I finally gained backstage access as a creator network manager, I realised I could accomplish everything I needed without the platform's constraints. The final straw came when one of my helpful posts received a violation notice, highlighting the unpredictability of algorithms that do not always recognise authentic content.
My path toward full-time self-employment has not been linear. I still rely on contract work to pay my mortgage and bills while building my coaching practice. The frustration of slow progress led me to seek answers in astrology, which did provide some clarity about seasons and cycles. But the strongest revelation has been about trusting my own inner wisdom above all external guidance systems.
This temporary step back from social media is not a retreat; it is a strategic realignment. It is a conscious choice to stop feeding algorithms and start feeding my own vision, proving that the most sustainable path is the one we build for ourselves.
