Fr Charlie Meets Pope, GHA Donation, Breast Cancer Awareness, Miss Gibraltar Charity Work
Description
Monsignor Charles Azzopardi received a Papal Blessing from Pope Leo XIV during a visit to the Vatican. The Bishop-Elect is in Rome ahead of his Episcopal Ordination, scheduled for December. Our News Editor Christine Vasquez told us more about the meeting.
The Gibraltar Health Authority has received a boost in its ability to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders, thanks to a £100,000 donation from the Gibraltar-based Pramila Trust. Vikrant Udeshi, Trustee of the Pramila Trust, told us that the grant has funded a new suite of gastrointestinal function testing equipment, allowing local patients to access tests without needing to travel abroad.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; an international health campaign to promote screening and early detection. The local support group is once again launching its 'Move the Boob' campaign, inviting sports clubs, schools, and societies to get moving and fundraise. We spoke to Heidi Jeffries and Mercy Posso from the charity.
And, Miss Gibraltar Julia Horne will be travelling to Ghana to support the Help Me Learn Africa charity. She's asking the community to get involved by donating football tops and kits for children. We caught up with Julia ahead of her trip. She told what drew her to this particular charity and what the mission means to her.
