Description
Whether or not the Alec Baldwin movie "Rust" should have been released at all is a question for another time. Now available on streaming on demand platforms, the controversial Western will always be known as the one where Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. It's a standard shoot-'em-up about an aging outlaw who tries to save his innocent grandson from the hangman's noose. It's a sad irony that the best thing about “Rust” is its atmospheric cinematography.
Josh Hartnett is much better than he has any business being in the over-the-top comic action thriller, "Fight or Flight." He plays a down-on-his-luck former federal agent seeking redemption who is assigned to capture a terrorist on a trans-Pacific flight. Problem is, the plane is loaded with assassins trying to kill him and his quarry. The body parts fly in this blood-spattered, stunt-heavy actioner that’s played mostly for laughs. If you can tune in to its gory sense of humor, you'll like "Fight or Flight." Others may want to flee.
At a pivotal moment in cheesy slasher movie "Clown in a Cornfield," a character is chased by killer clowns through a field and says, "I feel like I'm in a bad '80s horror movie." That pretty much sums it up.
The sentimental, old school Netflix movie "Nonnas" stars Vince Vaughn in the true story of a mechanic who impulsively opened a Staten Island restaurant where the chefs were all Italian grandmas. Brenda Vaccaro, Lorraine Bracco, Susan Sarandon and Talia Shire play the nonnas who pitch in to help Vince achieve his improbable dream. “Nonnas” is an awkward but well-meaning bit of cinematic schmaltz.
