Using the genome of the Neanderthal, AI was used to identify peptides that could be “revived” from our ancestors’ genetic code and used to treat disease. They next discussed the “post antibiotic era”, another mini crisis that is touted as the reason to use AI to accelerate research. A trend is emerging - turn our thinking over to AI to help to prevent crises.
In Part Two O and Zee describe how news organizations are using an AI application called Jasper to generate “interesting takes” to assist journalists with writing their articles and opinion pieces. The topic of AI hallucinations is discussed, a condition where AI suddenly makes up facts that are so authoritative that they are accepted as truth. Can we truly turn medical and other vital decisions over to such software?
