Our second class from our Fruit of the Spirit class from our FROM FAITH TO FRUIT: Summer Programme 2023! Joe teaches an overview on three study types (a word study, a topic study and a character study) to prepare our Students for their group study on the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-25.
FROM FAITH TO FRUIT: Summer Programme 2023
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:1-3)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:22-25)
Our faith is a result of the great hope that we have in Christ; faith gives shape and substance to something and makes something visible that is not seen. We explored the abiding faith illustrated in the lives of the men and women in Hebrews 11. With knowledge of the truth that “faith without works is dead” and “without faith it is impossible to please God”, we looked at the natural process whereby our abiding faith is evidenced in fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. It was our heart that our Students left the Summer Programme with a greater understanding that when their abiding faith is placed in our great God, they fulfil the law of Christ, producing in them spiritual fruit.
