Main Session 04 from our FIRST LOVED: Winter Retreat 2021! Pastor Jordan Walsh encouraged us with Jesus' simple invitation to Peter in John 21. He looked at how a post-crucification Peter felt distant and unsure on where he stood with Jesus, focusing on Jesus' invitation to "Come be with Me" surpassed Peter's feelings of distance.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:18-19 NKJV)

As believers, we know and understand that God loves us, but often we struggle to live in the daily reality of God’s love for us! Over the Winter Retreat, we focused on the truth that God loved us first. It is this love that has been first communicated and shown to man that leads us to the realisation that we love Him simply in response to His love for us. And when we experience His love and love Him in return, there is a freedom and self-abandonment that comes in loving God.
