Functional package management with GNU Guix
Update: 2015-05-19
Description
GNU Guix (pronounced "geeks") is a functional package manager written in Guile Scheme. https://www.gnu.org/software/guix/ The talk will provide a high-level overview introducing common problems with traditional package management and demonstrate how these problems are addressed with functional package management, and Guix in particular. Demos will show some of the useful features of GNU Guix, such as per-user profiles, roll-backs, and how easy it is to hack from within a Scheme REPL. Here's a blog post I wrote on a similar topic but with a stronger focus on using Guix in a shared computing environment: http://elephly.net/posts/2015-04-17-gnu-guix.html
