The Penn State Nittany Lions recruiting team is in the middle of a two-month dead period after the first conclusion of commitments in the Class of 2026. With most of the class wrapped up, it's time to look ahead to 2027. The rising juniors will be putting together the most important film of their high school careers for most of them as the majority of their offers will happen after this season. With that in mind, we're getting Penn State fans acquainted with the Pennsylvania players they need to know before that happens. Which prospects are at the top of the recruiting board? Which ones are on the rise and which ones are on the radar? Recruiting reporter Ryan Snyder will break all of that down for you today.

Penn State recruiting news

Despite the dead period, there's plenty of Penn State recruiting news this week. Not all of it is good for the Lions, however. Top 2027 commit, Kemon Spell, has decided to take visits to other schools this fall. Snyder will break down what Spell told him on the matter and which schools Spell plans to visit. We'll also discuss the impact on recruiting and revisit the top reasons for hope in Spell's recruitment. 

Next, we'll discuss Penn State's other skill play committed for this cycle, Khalil Taylor. Taylor made the decision to switch schools weeks before the start of his junior season. Snyder will discuss what he knows of the situation and what fans should take away from this news. 

Getting to know the rest of the PA targets in 2027

The majority of today's show is dedicated to introducing fans to the in-state prospects that Penn State is interested in for the upcoming year. Snyder will review the top targets we've discussed on the BWI Live Recruiting Show over several months. Then he'll dig deeper into the region for the players that are on the bubble this year, from a quality target to a high-priority prospect. Finally, he'll review the rest of the notable players that may not be on Penn State's radar, but could find their way to the table with a strong junior season. 

Lastly, we'll discuss the players who have already told BWI that they plan to attend the White Out Game against Oregon at the end of September.
