Gianine Strang: How She Learned to Teach Others to Heal Past Trauma Through Movement
Description
Our bodies are not just vessels to carry us through life, they are reservoirs of wisdom and emotion. Every experience, every trauma, and every joy we encounter leaves its mark on our bodies. Like silent witnesses, our bodies store this energy, often manifesting as discomfort or unease when left untreated. Gianine Strang learned this firsthand after spending years undoing the trauma she unknowingly held in her body. And once she found the key to healing, she began teaching others how to do it for themselves. This week on Journeys Through Change, my guest Gianine Strang and I are talking about how she learned to teach others to heal past trauma through movement.

Gianine’s passion for dance led her to the University of the Arts, where she immersed herself in the world of movement. However, life, as it often does, took an unexpected turn. Gianine encountered personal trauma that shook the very foundation of her being. It was a pivotal moment that set her on a path of deep healing, thus the founding of Movement Medicine. Through healing sessions, in-person workshops, group coaching programs, and monthly memberships, Gianine helps people transform, shedding the layers of societal conditioning that have kept us detached from our bodies and rediscovering the innate wisdom that lies within.
In this episode, Gianine and I discuss:
- How a traumatic experience working for a dance company led to a host of other mental and physical challenges.
- Her journey to finding joy in movement again was the catalyst for her passion to help others heal by releasing trauma in their bodies.
- Finding a balance between the unconscious mind and movement is the key to reconnecting with your body and releasing trapped emotions.
Change is inevitable. That’s why I designed the Day by Daybook®, a guided journal to help you face the discomfort of those shifts in life that are pushing you to that next level of growth and learning. Get your Day by Daybook® here.
